Traditional canning ritual, tweaked this year

I intentionally have broken up my usual, Labor Day tomato canning, due to my newly diagnosed (and shared) physical restrictions/ailments.

Phase 1 was putting up pints of tomatoes, yielding 25 pints. More will be completed today, including 4 jars that didn't seal well. I also will make some plain tomato sauce.

I wish I could do this. Hope it didn't tire you out too much.

NOt tired as a result, just sore. A new, additional RX to combat pain is on deck, it's helping.

25 pints would be too much for me, but I've probably got at least 20 years on you! I might have done it 20 years ago. I did not plant tomatoes this year, so I'll just be waiting for a good canned goods sale this year. I'm just as glad, as the money isn't as important to me at the moment as the time is. I've bought tomatoes to eat fresh, and that's worked out fine. We are eating well, with my favorite farm stand just a couple miles away and open 7 days a week in summer.

I am seriously impressed with your "small canning" day.

When I was still a kid in my parents' home, Mom and I filled the huge kitchen table with jars we canned. You did a mountain of work with your medical problems. GREAT.
