Dealing with kitchen waste

Pictured is the small, side sink in the kitchen, that houses a nonworking garbage disposal. While I would very much like to compost, there is no way for me to do so here, which really is a shame. Instead, I have a grocery store bag lining a lided, repurposed shortening container. Once filled, it's tied shut and disposed of in the kitchen trash. I hate smelly, wet garbage and this is working for me.

Cost: $0, using what is on hand.
