Sunday supper, with some help

 I started by sauteeing some presliced mushrooms along with a sliced onion in some reserved beef tallow. I removed them from the skillet.
 Meanwhile, I turned 1 lb of ground beef into 5 good sized patties (1 egg, parsley, garlic, black pepper, milk, homemade bread crumbs), then browned them off on both sides
 My gravy ingredients
 Once the patties were browned, I added the cooked vegetables, and the gravy, which I later thickened with a corn starch slurry.
 Sides were steamed carrots
 I had DD peel the spuds
for the mashed potatoes

Salsbury steak, it had been a while and made for a nice change.

The first bowl of mushrooms and onions looks like a good portion for Ilove Salsbury steak.

I have not had that years. I remember as a kid we had it once a week. I hope you are recovering well from the surgery.

Meme, back when ground beef was cheap! this was "Poor man's steak." When I was first married, I easily found ground beef (S & S placed about to go out of date meats in a freezer and all was 99/lb, I often got grnd sirloin at that price!)on sale. Now it's hard to keep it under $3/lb.
