Crock Pot Tuesday: pintos with ham

A common site in my kitchen: a pot of dried beans being "quick soaked." Today's recipe called for pintos.
Now they are simmering away with a frozen ham bone, bay leaf, black pepper, chopped onion. I will be making some buttermilk cornbread   (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/76594/grandmothers-buttermilk-cornbread/)to accompany, and I'm thinking a green salad would round the meal out fine.

That looks good even though I don't eat pintos. Some people just throw the greens in the pot or in their bowls of beans. Sounds easier to me.

Linda, yes, if I was using kale/spinach/chard. I have leaf lettuce from the Farmer's market to offer as a raw side, so I'll go with that. Thanks for the suggestion.

After I posted, I thought about the fact you might just not have the right greens to go in beans.
