September menus


Mid month already, and back to work/school soon to resume. Here are my menus, with veg TBD, based on CSA pickup. Salad served when available, or if specified

1-baked in chicken drums/thighs; rice, veg
3-tuna sandwiches
4-chicken parm over linguini, veg
5-beef burgers on grill, macaroni salad
6-pork chops in mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes, jarred apple sauce, veg
7-salmon cakes, fzn onion rings, veg
8-CP turkey chilli, corn bread
10-pate chinois, apple-raisin slaw
12-egg salad sandwiches
13-BSCB in herbed cream sauce, noodles, veg, coleslaw
14-tuna cakes, 2 veg, coleslaw
15-CP fzn Ital meatballs in marinara over spaghetti, garlic rolls, veg
16-lazy golumki casserole, veg
19-chicken salad sandwiches
20-CP beef-turkey meatloaf, mashed potatoes, veg
21-baked Tilapia, rice, veg
22-CP marinara w/ sausage crumbles over ziti, salad, veg
24-hot dogs, canned pork beans
26-chicken veg-noodle soup
27-CP beef stew
28-creamed salmon, boiled potatoes, fzn peas
29-new recipe: Spanish rice, salad, veg

I've planned using what is on hand, creating a list of must have's beyond usual staples; there appears to be little that I will need to complete these. I've also planned for some crazy nights when I come home late, but we still need to eat, and by planning, I avoid take out.

Looks good, Carol. The drumstick/thigh combo is on sale here this week for 39¢ per pound. Almost a throwback to the Tightwad Gazette days.

WOW! 39/lb? unheard of! The thighs and drums I have were 69 and 99/lb-I don't pay more than $1/lb esp as Aldi's carries whole chicken @ 95/lb
