TV recommendations?

Image: http://nextnature.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/flatscreen_tv_530.jpg

My main tv in the Den is officially dying and will be replaced with a new one, obviously, we are moving to a flat screen model to replace this "big butt" one. I do not want a huge one, am thinking 32 inch. Recommendations? I am not that much into TV, so this doesn't have to be the latest/greatest either. I see brands I don't recognize, on sale at Best buy this week-suggestions welcomed! Thanks

Update: I ended up getting a 32 inch Samsung 1080 p for $265 and change, with free delivery. The TV it's replacing cost on sale, $500 or so back in the day when we bought it. It's OLD, owes me nothing.

I have bought (2) Best Buy Brand Insignia TV's which were very reasonably priced and have had them for over 2 years and they are both great and work perfectly.

we are happy with Samsung. I think it has the best ratings. We had a Vizio that didn't get much use (basement) and it worked well also. We got a good deal on the Samsung at Costco as we purchased an "older" model; they didn't have one boxed, so we bought the floor model and got $50 off. I think Target has good prices too. I tend to stay clear of Best Buy because I don't think their return policy is easy to negotiate. unless you get the extended warranty.

We have an Insignia and, if I'm not mistaken, that is a Best Buy brand and we have had good luck with it.

Dh picks out the tv's here so I'm also not up on the latest and greatest.

Good luck!!

I bought a 32" flat screen Insignia @ Best Buy 5-6 years ago, may have been longer than that. I bought one with a/the built in dvd player. Never an issue with the TV, still works great. One of my sisters bought a "big butt" 28 inch Sansui TV @ Best Buy at least 10-12 years ago. It is the tv she still uses.

We have a Toshiba which is dying now, but has been with us quite a long time. We generally don't buy from Best Buy or Sam's Club because of their lack of service on such things. The Toshiba has a hard time giving us a picture. It's been taking 5 min sometimes of turning it off and then on again to get a picture. Works great after that. Well, one night last week, it took about 45 min to get a picture and DH is getting tired of it. You can hardly get it fixed with an intermittent problem, if they even FIX tvs anymore. This is not our first Toshiba and they have done well for us up until now. I'm guessing we have had it well over 12 years already.

DH says Samsung very good.

looks like a good deal Carol -- I usually read through the reviews (including the bad ones) and then read what the reviewers on amazon have said. I used to subscribe to consumer reports but I find that amazon reviews are just as helpful.

For a bit more, I ordered a 1080 p model (up from the 720 I was looking at) and out the door with free shipping: $265 and change. Fair deal.

I ordered mine from amazon and used my points. It was delivered free to the front door- brand is Panasonic.
