Planning ahead: Crock Pot Thursday, trying something new


Trying something new: Based on a recommendation from Nancy, a blogger friend, we will be trying this tomorrow:  Following Nancy's suggestions, I am quick soaking some dried chick peas to add some protein to this dish, which I will serve over some buttered egg noodles. I also made a substitution of some dried oregano for the thyme, which I don't have.

Thanks! This looks like a good Lenten meal ... may substitute some roasted pumpkin for the parsnips.

DW, I followed this almost to the T: I substituted onion for the leek, used chicken bouillon for the chicken stock, added chic peas for protein, used oregano for the thyme. I served it over egg noodles. Review: needs something, which is what the person who tried it first. DD added garlic powder, which was welcomed. I'd make it again, almost any veg would work.
