Dishwasher detergent issue

Image: http://www.finishdishwashing.com/media/6803/finish_gel_fresh_600x450.png?width=300&

This is weird. Last Summer, when Mom came to help while I was recovering from rotator cuff surgery, she brought me some things, including a large, new bottle of Finish liquid dish washer detergent. I've been using up my stash, decided to open that bottle as it's been lingering. It's really watery. I've used several brands, including Finish, liquid before-this is really odd. I've shaken the bottle, in case it was a situation where the product settled-nope, that did nothing. It's cleaning the dishes, but not as well as I'd like-none of the liquids seem to work as well as the powders here, so I'm moving just to powder.

Thoughts?

I had gotten some Finish tablets (free with a coupon of course) and I wasn't impressed. Dishes weren't clean, and the dishwasher had a horrible odor. I switched back to cascade when these were all done and the issues disappeared. Just my two cents.

No thoughts, I'm afraid. I use Finish gel packets. Sometimes they seem to leak and leave little puddles of soap on the bottom of the dishwasher, but 90% of the time they dissolve like they're supposed to. This is dishwasher which is only about three months old, and we bought it because Consumer Reports recommended it. I haven't used the plain liquid Finish, although I do have one in there that is some kind of liquid other than Finish. If it's a good price, I'll buy it and try it. If I don't like it, small loss, no further purchases.

I've never had watery detergent, all brands are expensive and I like the tab pillow kind from Aldi. I get 20/$2.49.
Not cheap but cheaper than name brand and they work great.

I had that happen and I called the manufacturer and was told that the bottles were probably in a truck for a long time in winter weather and FROZE! I was offered a coupon for a free jug that I realize now never arrived. I used my jug up as I cannot afford to toss -- same as you.

I've only used Finish tablets, but that doesn't sound right. I'd give their customer service folks a call and ask ... maybe it's a defective bottle. (and if so, perhaps they might send you a coupon for a new bottle ...)

Sandie,
I've used Finish liquid as well as the tablets you mention. No issues. This D/W seems to prefer powdered detergent, and does really well with the powder or gel tabs, which I actually really like as they are easy for me to use, in light of my OT issues. Cascade has always beena great brand, just really expensive.

We're of the same mindset. This was gifted to me, I am actively using it up. I tried and found that the Dollar Tree powder (Sun brand, actually made in CT-another bonus for me) works well for this D/W and is ubber afforable. My splurge would be Aldi's gel tabs: 20 ct pkg for $2.49. Work great, love the price!

Rhonda-yes, I've used the Aldi's liquid (gifted to me from Freecycle) and this D/W didn't particularly clean well with it. I used it up, decided not to buy it myself. THe tabs? awesome product at a great price. I also like them.

DW-I just may contact them. Mom spent good money on a widow's pension to purchase this item. It pours like water-no kidding. I'm certain that something happened to it. Just weird and medeocre cleaning. I'm getting a lot of sandy grit, especially on the top rack, and especially coating the mugs and glasses there.

Sandy grit? Yuck. I'd definitely call them. And I'd use the current bottle for cleaning toilets.
