CSA 2014 and what's for dinner?

Another good week: pok choy * (a baby bok choy), bag of mixed salad greens, pea shoots, 1 lb of dried black beans, 1/2 dozen eggs, a bunch of chive, and pick a jar from the preserved (all savory this time) shelf: I choice a large jar of Summer squash relish.

Supper tonight will be BSCB that I got on marked down and froze, turned into homemade chicken strips:

Sides will be salad, macaroni salad.

BTW: supper last night was salmon cakes using chopped celery for shredded carrots (I am out); tater tots, corn.

These jars of preserves that you get to choose sound very interesting and yummy. What a treat!

I'm jealous of the salad greens--I just got my lettuce planted this week. I have chives coming out my ears already...they even grow in the cracks of the sidewalk next to my garden. This was the first week we had the opportunity to dry out enough to actually plant the cold crops. I like the variety you are getting already in you CSA. I will continue to buy Romaine lettuce at the store for at least another month. Oh, well!

I hope your cold and allergies are not bothering you as much! Have a super nice weekend and a LOVELY Mother's Day!

We had a choice: pickled garlic scapes, tomatillo salsa, or the chunky Summer squash relish, the last is what I selected, as it's something new to me. So far, so good with this CSA. Plenty of variety, too

Yes, Winter keep a long, hard grasp on us this year. I get about 2 days or meals's worth of salad greens in the bag, so I am still buying lettuce along with cabbage, carrots, onion etc to bulk it out. Jealous of your chive, I hope to get some chive blossoms to make vinegar this year.

One week later, yes, I do feel better, but congestion and coughing continue-it's allergies. Kids are suffering too.

Is this the same CSA you used last year? I remember you posting that you were unhappy with that CSA and were looking for another.

Debbie,
No, this is a new one to me, this year-the third I've ever participated in. My beloved first CSA remains on hiatus, so knowing that I wouldn't return to last years' CSA, I researched and found another one, close to me, as well! 100% certified organic, includes pasture raised meats/eggs, home preserved foods, etc. So far, it's been great.
