Closing a chapter
The final organic CSA pick up was this afternoon. As I have previously posted, this particular program ended up being a disappointment. We are hoping that our former organic CSA that was on hiatus this year, will once again offer a CSA. Pictured is what this week's share included, minus decorative gourds that I passed on. Eggs, Delicata squash, Butternut squash, 2 large acorn squash, 5 mini pumpkins, a large cabbage, 2 small onions, 1 red pepper, 1 Italian frying pepper, 3 hot peppers
We also got herb bundles: sage (more than just one sprig!), parsley, oregano, rosemary. I'll use what I can this week, then dry the rest.
Finally, 2 slicing tomatoes, a bag of grape tomatoes.
So, we will eat well this week but will have to hunker down and then rely upon stored food in the freezer, pantry and supplement with cheaper produce items which are usually: potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbage, and filling in around the edges.
