Household expenses

Moving out with 50% of the household goods and starting a new chapter in my life meant that there would be some voids. I set about immediately to address these basic needs, selecting used, quality items when available, making a concerted effort to buy American made if buying new, even if it meant spending a bit more. Second hand market was and continues to be explored first. We've been here almost 6 months, I've accomplished alot to make this place a home for us, even if it is a rental. I keep in mind that I will want to take everything I put into this place with me, once I move out and purchases need to be practical such as generic, white drape liners vs investing in 6 sets of drapes that I may/not be able to use in my next place.

I may have forgotten some things, but this is pretty close. I still have some things on my list, which I am whittling down. Items such as additional wall thermometers, a gas grill with side burner(s)-great for emergency cooking as needed, a dining room rug, 2 new window A/C energy star units (mine are ANCIENT and energy hogs. Luckily this is a cooler home in Summer). I also have some refurbishing projects to address (paint kitchen chairs and decan's bench, paint Adirondack chairs, paint outside table, deep clean the folding Cosco chairs and oil the folding parts, paint the table legs to the kitchen table (formica top circa 1950). Sewing projects: many more but this time superlong, draft dodgers, curtains for the office, hem sheers for the back window in the bathroom, etc.
